Photography has been a serious hobby for Jerry Barrack for over fifty years. His interest started when he was stationed in Okinawa with the U.S. Navy Dental Corp. Traveling extensively throughout the Far East provided a great opportunity to learn how to see and think with a camera. After completing his tour of duty, he took many courses at the New School in New York, studying with Lisette Model. Over the years his primary interests became travel and nature photography. He has presented over one hundred nature slide shows at various nature societies, photography clubs, libraries, and schools. He has also published five books, the latest, published by the Univ. of Texas Press, is entitled "Jungle of the Maya," in collaboration with Jim Wright and Doug Goodell. It is a celebration of the magnificent tropical forest that encompasses much of Belize, Guatemala, and the Yucutan Peninsula. Jerry's goal is to try and find a great location, study it, and wait for the "sweet light".
